SUMMARY:Webinar: The Role of the Board in a Crisis: Hope is Not a Strategy
DESCRIPTION:When the school is in crisis\, the head of school expects and needs their board chair to be a partner and provide strategic guidance. While schools excel at preparing for weather and fire\, crisis preparation is often a footnote. Crisis planning and training should be at the top of school and board leadership’s to do list. The board should be familiar with the school’s crisis plan and know their roles\, boundaries and guiding principles of good conduct. In this hour\, we will focus on the “pain points” that board chairs face which include information sharing\, who should the chair bring in at the onset\, if anyone\, when to inform the full board\, managing the leaks\, confidentiality and more.  We will also look at the five major mistakes a board can make. \nJim Hulbert\, J.D.\, is the managing partner at The Jane Group\, an international crisis communications consulting firm in Chicago.  Jim is the lead consultant on governance and board matters and complex legal matters in the US and internationally.  Jim works closely with Board Chairs and their executive committees to manage leadership challenges and best practices in governance.  He trains school leadership in crisis management on highly sensitive matters\, including sexual misconduct issues. \n  \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Webinar: Measuring the Health of School Culture - The Power of Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Today\, independent school Boards are expected to know more about the health of the schools they serve than just what is revealed in fiscal\, enrollment and fundraising vital signs. Insights into school culture come through such things as how people feel they are treated and in whether employees and current parents feel positively connected to and appreciated by the school.\nThis webinar will help Board members understand the difference between the limited information gained from traditional satisfaction surveys and the insights engagement surveys provide. You will learn how engagement can inform leadership decisions and provide objective information to support the value proposition of the school. But\, most importantly\, you will see how information gained from engagement surveys can be used to remove barriers which may affect the school’s enrollment\, fundraising efforts or reputation. \nPresented by George Conway\, President\, Independent Educational Services \nRegister

DESCRIPTION:Every independent school faces enormous challenges in managing and protecting sensitive student data within their information systems. It is not a question of if you will be involved in a data breach or similar data security challenge\, but when.
