Independent schools face an acute need for new business models. Friends Council on Education, in partnership with Rational Partners (with collaborative grants from EE Ford Foundation and BLBB Charitable), launched a national research project to survey, analyze and report on the form and performance of schools that operate strategic multiple campuses (SMCS) in satellite, parallel or coordinate arrangements, be they the product of collaboration, consolidation or organic growth. The session will report on key findings, both quantitative and qualitative, in the strategy, economics, patterns, and potential of their novel approach to market position, student population, program design, and physical plant.
