Vaccines against the coronavirus will soon be available to K-12 educators and staff (if not already), so it is time to start planning for the rollout at your school. As school governance leaders, it is important for you to understand which approaches will promote campus health and safety, and when and how schools need to accommodate resistance from community members to receiving their shot in the arm. Susan Schorr, Vice-Chair of McLane Middleton’s Education Law Practice Group, will guide a discussion analyzing the pros and cons of mandating vaccines versus strongly recommending inoculation; accommodating legitimate exemptions to vaccinations; describing where things stand with students and vaccination; and providing recommendations for vaccine and pandemic protocols and policies.
