Everyone knows that boards require strong leadership from the board chair and other officers to committee and task force chairs. Despite this, many boards do not have a thoughtful, intentional, and transparent policy or process for board leadership succession. This session will showcase important considerations and specific steps for ensuring effective board leadership succession including onboarding new board members with leadership qualities, having policies and transparent processes in place, encouraging and cultivating talent, being attentive to how leaders are doing, and providing helpful feedback.
