This session explores how AI can become a practical tool for strengthening the board’s own work. After a brief grounding in where AI is entering independent schools so Chairs can see the full landscape, we will focus on one area – where AI can add the most value in the boardroom. From risk assessment and financial scenario planning to committee work, environmental scanning, and strategic foresight, participants will see how AI can create efficiencies, deepen analysis, and support more informed, future-focused board leadership.

The session closes with a practical model for putting these ideas into action: a time-limited Future-Ready Board Task Force charged with exploring how AI can support the work of the board and elevate its impact.
