About ISCA’s Peer Advisor Program

ISCA’s Peer Advisor Program is designed to provide ISCA members with an additional layer of support by connecting Chairs with experienced current or former Board Chairs. These Peer Advisors draw on their extensive leadership experience to help Chairs navigate the challenges that often arise in their role.

Serving as Board Chair can bring unexpected situations that leave even seasoned leaders uncertain about the best course of action. Having a trusted peer outside of one’s own school can be an invaluable source of perspective and reassurance. Conversations with an experienced Chair who understands the role firsthand can offer insight, guidance, and encouragement.

All Peer Advisors are members of ISCA’s Board of Directors. While they are not a substitute for professional consultants such as attorneys or financial advisors, they bring deep governance expertise and practical knowledge to support fellow Chairs. Any guidance offered reflects their personal experience and wisdom and does not represent an official position of ISCA.

ISCA members may request to connect with a Peer Advisor by completing the Peer Advisor Request Form. Based on short advisor profiles, members can select whom they would like to connect with. Peer Advisors will then arrange a conversation of up to 30 minutes.

Because this is a volunteer program, we ask members to reserve Peer Advisor requests for situations that may not be appropriate for ISCA’s Online Forum.

Through this program, ISCA seeks to strengthen board leadership and promote effective governance practices across independent schools by offering Chairs access to trusted peers who understand their journey.
